BIOGRAPHICAL
NARRATIVE
For
the past fifty years, Winona Ellis Rubin has focused on
serving children and families as a teacher, counselor, group
advisor, mentor, educational administrator, and communicator
of positive thinking.
Concurrently,
she has devoted her life to the Hawaiian community through
her involvement in public service and private non-profit
activities and programs. Experienced in strategic planning,
policy making, systems management, community organizing,
problem solving, and partnership building, Mrs. Rubin has
used her skills in several arenas, including: Director of
the State Department of Human Services; Land Use Commissioner;
Hawaii Housing Authority Commissioner; principal of
the high school division of the Kamehameha Schools, Assistant
to the President of the Kamehameha Schools; and, President/Chief
Executive Officer of ALU LIKE, Inc., a non-profit organization.
Mrs.
Rubin currently serves as Chairperson of the ALU LIKE Board
of Directors and provides assistance in a variety of areas
as part of Chairperson Apoliona's staff at the Office of
Hawaiian Affairs.
